Crochet Constipation – the pain

creative-constipation2As I’m sure you can imagine after the mass ordering of yarn, the inevitable happened. It all arrived within days of each other. No problem. I will tackle the mountain of yarn one project at a time.

I have a jacket for Linda, a scarf for Laura, a purse for Jenn and a vest for David. David has to love me, so that can wait. Jenn is a fellow hooker and knows the pains of tackling too many projects at once. That can wait. Linda is my boss. Enough said. That jacket wins hands down.

The jacket for Linda is a simple enough pattern. It’s  the Via Condotti jacket featured in an Annie’s Attic publication. It’s basically a big net with sleeves. One of the major reasons I picked this pattern was someone stated that they had finished the pattern in less than a week1. But after a seven days and hundreds of “tr in next st, ch 1, sk next st” boredom set in big time. “Maybe I’ll work with David’s project yarn for a diversion. Just a gauge swatch. Nothing major. Oh, and I want to try the yarn and pattern for Laura’s scarf. You know, just to make sure it all works. I’ve never worked with the yarn for Jenn’s project. Maybe a bit of time on that for Safety’s sake.” BAM! I’m working on all four projects at once.

No wonder they call us hookers. We keep whoring ourselves out to the next available project without putting the satisfied grin on the first one. Well this bordello is full and it’s time to push clients out the door. This weekend is all about completing the projects. After all, I have five more waiting to be looked at after Christmas!

1.  I’m on my sixth week with the jacket. It never occurred to me that he was a professional crocheter. I believe the amateur/professional time ratio is eight weeks to one. Either way, this project has taken too long and needs to be C-sectioned out of the lineup STAT.
